Meetcha at Welty!
Join other area biking enthusiasts for a fun and free community event
This year’s ride is set up to highlight a number of Beloit Area resources.
And, we want to bring Brodhead to Welty and Beloit by co-opting with other Brodhead merchants.
- $5 from Welty Environmental Center;
- $15 from Brodhead;
- $20 from New Glarus.
We will be all set up at the registration area as of 6:00 a.m on Saturday the 6th of August. The registration area is going to be located in downtown Beloit right behind the Beloit Bicycle Company at 110 West Grand Avenue.
The route will be marked on the road surface as well as with small signs and you will be given a map of the route with your cue sheets at registration on August 2nd.
Yes, the ride is supported although since it is FREE, we try not to over-promise. In other words, if you have mechanical troubles, we will give you a lift to the nearest water stop where you can make arrangements for a rescue. There will be a mobile bike repair vehicle available to everyone if needed. Alone with this new addition there will be a Mobile Mist Vehicle along the routes.
We will have contact numbers if you run into any sort of problems on the route and we plan to have several vehicles out on the route sweeping the route to make sure riders are doing OK.
In addition to these vehicles, we will have comfort/water stops along the route. There will be a rest stop at the new Welty Center with food provided by Bagels and More. Two rest stop will be provided between Brodhead and New Glarus.
If you plan to ride the Century route, you have the option of taking the Sugar River State trail from Brodhead or the roads which are very hilly. Should you decide on the trail, a daily trail pass will be needed. Note: The Sugar River State trail has sections that are not paved and can me rocky. This may not be suitable for road bikes.
The Performance T-Shirts for this year are really nice and we hope you order one!
And yes, we will accept a donation at registration if you feel inclined to do so. That would be most welcome.
Take care, and we look forward to seeing you at the registration area on the 6th. Have a great ride! Let us know if you have all the answers you need to feel good about the ride.
